The Government, i.e., the State, is a greedy corporation. It is a monopoly by definition and in how it operates. It does not like competition that can do things better or in a more efficient manner and will try to kill them off by undercutting them. It raises prices and reduces quality of the services it provides. It looks to increase its profits and reduce its costs. It has employees who have their own ambitions to achieve, finances to look after, ladders to climb and families to look after. It has different departments that don't have to agree with each other. It has a logo and brand. It has loyal customers and fanatics. It is subject to the consequences of laws of economics and human action. It can go bankrupt. It has its own paid and unpaid marketing department. It does not need to honour its promises or fulfill its contractual obligations and often doesn't. It can and does enslave people in practice without seeming so on paper. It does not need to be just and can and does define what is and isn't just. It has the ability to exempt itself, its employees and allies from rules everyone else must follow.
