Social bookmarking services that add metadata to web content are reminiscent of the web 2.0 vibe. In terms of adding metadata, I'd say the Semantic Web more than just web 2.0. I'm tempted to mention the possibility of it becoming a metadata index database for web content, but data persistence and a universal index would be overkill for a relay server design, and those things have been talked about extensively with other spaces like SOLID, IPFS, so I'll refrain. This would be something that 10-100 phase people will resolve somehow with the business!

Very curious but hard-to-answer asking. I want to see more reply. My opinion: The question why the internet is "good" in the sense that it advances human flourishing is very interesting. But, if it were specific to "internet", I don't think it is anything more or less than to empower individuals, by amplifying knowledge and collaboration. In the near future where AI and biotechnology evolve, humanity will have to answer the question, "What is life?". In the near future where developed countries fall down and geopolitics reaches a critical point, there might be a world war. It would be literally "telelogical" and "ontological". In there, we need a free, censorship-resistant, transactional internet where non-tampered information, free speech and people's money are circulating in order to express and collaborate on the free will of individuls. This is a classic step repeated in the history. innovation and adoption are a spiral stair, not a elevator. And mass adoption is to step from product-out to market-in. Totally fine. NGU shares interests with me. Corporations, which align the interests of different stakeholders, are one of the greatest inventions of mankind. My self-sovereign way stems from there. Totally fine.

I got it💡 Let's name it "Self-Custody In Name Only," or "SCINO" for short. It's right in "Andreessen's Law of Consumer Internet". It must be helpful to be the bridge from custody to self-custody for grandmas in the stairway to heaven! image
