Theoretically it is nice to use a separate app to the client to view nostr, but nos2x, the only one I've got working so far, refuses to stop pinging me with desktop notifications about signing events, and I'm over it. The only real thing of value to my nsec is not my nsec but my alby account and that's already isolated.

Nostr apps need a filter that lets you screen out everything starting with GM and GN, wdyt?

I spoke too soon about things going smooth with the server. For some reason, ubuntu 22 image on my VPS provider doesn't have `psmisc` installed and the usual `killall <name>` command didn't work. I'm gonna have to redo the whole thing haha.

I just had a funny moment with Git and Gitea. I'd set up a gitea instance in a regular looking username, I figured keep it and the reverse proxy in one box, and I'm getting this error since yesterday, just hadn't got everything tee'd up to run: ``` loki@brav0:~/src/l0k1.cc/git$ git clone loki@l0k1.cc:git/kozhik.git Cloning into 'kozhik'... fatal: 'git/kozhik.git' does not appear to be a git repository fatal: Could not read from remote repository. Please make sure you have the correct access rights and the repository exists. ``` As I am reading this jumped out at me: > But if you are reaching out to a private server that does not have HTTP access available you have to change this syntax to include a server user with appropriate privilege. (This is why when setting up a private Git server it is a good idea to create a special “Git” user with access to the repository.) > > >git clone user@desination:/home/user/production.git > > Notice that unlike the HTTP variation from GitHub, this clone URL contains user@destination. The “user,” in this case, is a server user with access and privileges to interact with the Git repository on the server. The destination is the hostname, domain name, or IP address of the server you are trying to contact. Then, a colon (:) separates the user and server declaration from the file path. And I was like... ohhhh... that literal path, l0k1.cc:git/kozhik.git doesn't exist. Note the lack of prefix `/` - this specifically means it's looking in the `$HOME` of the user `loki` ie: `/home/loki` and the fix was simple: ``` ln -s /home/loki/data/gitea-repositories/git git ``` Instantly, SSH logs in, tries to `cd` to `/home/loki/git/` and copy the directory `kozhik.git` and it works. ^_^ I told you today was gonna be a good day. Already learned how git SSH works by poking at it.

GM Today is going to be an even better day. Sometimes the actions you take today don't take effect until tomorrow. Number one cause of waking up is that you ate at that time yesterday, or somewhere around 3 hours after that time.

I saw the security detail of a political candidate the other day. I didn't recognise it at the time, but these guys had the creepy air of undercover cops or gangster enforcers, and I noticed that. It made me realize that any time I hear about politicians and Bitcoin I should be wary. Firstly, never trust politicians. Secondly, enemies of the Bitcoin candidate will target obvious bitcoiners. Thirdly, stay humble and stack sats. Politics is anathema to freedom and truth. No matter they wave the orange flag it's a flag.

I had some midwit try to say, yeah, someone on nostr, obv not reading their trash anymore, talk about "what a useful tool" was the mobile phone. I just spent half an hour trying to update the apps on my phone that is mainly working as a modem just now. It didn't want to do the update on a mobile connection, a more or less unlimited one from vodafone. So I yank the sim, put it in the other phone, turn on the hotspot, and lo and behold instantly all the updates start happening. Convenient, useful. No, it just cost me a good half hour of my time for zero reason, gave me zero feedback why it was not working, and I fixed it by using my brain, which is a hell of a lot more useful tool than this fuckin piece of shit android garbage.
