🍿❤️🎬HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE! 🍿🎬📽 It’s time for Friday shorts! 🩳 This week we’ve chosen Un Chien Andalou (1929, 🕓15, Silent) by Luis Buñuel. I’m sure a lot of you know this film, but for those that don’t: Un Chien Andalou* (“An Andalusian Dog") was Luis Buñuel’s first film and is a seminal work in the genre of surrealist cinema. Written by Buñuel and Salvador Dalí, it was so popular that it ran for eight months straight after its initial limited release. *There are some fairly gruesome scenes, which may disturb some viewers, so please do watch at your own discretion. 👁 🌝 🔪 Enjoy! 🍿🎬❤️ #nostr #plebchain #nostrfilmclub #movies #film

This week’s film: ALI: FEAR EATS THE SOUL directed by Rainer Werner Fassbinder 🍿 image
Wk 7 | ALI: FEAR EATS THE SOUL | ANGST ESSEN SEELE AUF Directed by Rainer Werner Fassbinder West Germany, 1974 | 🕓 93 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿 Hi everyone! Fassbinder takes Douglas Sirk’s All That Heaven Allows ( which we’ll hopefully show soon!) and truly makes it his own, though even stylistically he evokes Sirk here with his use of long tracking shots and controlled mise-en-scene — the use of colour is just superb. This is one of Fassbinder’s finest films, and if you are not familiar with his work, after this you will want to watch it all! “The stillness of the film is deeply sad. But in the middle of all this sadness lies the possibility Emmi and Ali create when they find each other. The film draws its immense force from its concentration on two simple facts: the world's indifference and the couple's love.” — Criterion Collection. Enjoy! 🎬👁📽❤️ Remember to tell us what you think 💭 And don’t forget to like, share, or zap ⚡️ Here is the link to this week’s film 🎟: https://invidious.fdn.fr/watch?v=ditxpog10fs #nostr #plebchain #nostrfilmclub #movies #film #sundaymovie image

This week’s film is PEEPING TOM directed by Michael Powell! Here’s the link again: Please like, zap or repost and help us share great cinema and film from around the world! — Nostr Film Club 🍿🎬📽❤️ image #nostr #plebchain #nostrfilmclub #movies #film
Wk6 | PEEPING TOM Directed by Michael Powell UK, 1960 | 🕓 102 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿 Hi everyone! Released in Britain less than a month before Hitchcock’s Psycho had its American premiere, Powell’s Peeping Tom, which shares many of the same themes—voyeurism, murder, obsession, trauma — was reviled by critics at the time and sidelined by audiences. Yet Powell’s masterpiece takes the idea of voyeurism much further than Hitchcock’s: Peeping Tom represents one of the most daring rebukes of cinema itself, and as such would ultimately mark the end of Powell’s career. From this week we will no longer be doing Watch Along Wednesday, instead we’ll simply be sharing the links every Sunday and again at some point in the week and you can watch the films whenever you like. They are quite different and it’s well worth watching both. 🐇🌕 If you’re enjoying what we’re doing here please like 🤙 zap ⚡️or repost! image SANSHO THE BAILIFF (SANSHŌ DAYŪ / 山椒大夫) directed by Kenji Mizoguchi! 🍿🍿🍿
Wk5 | SANSHO THE BAILIFF | 山椒大夫 Directed by KENJI MIZOGUCHI Japan, 1954 🕓124 🍿🍿🍿 Hi everyone! Mizoguchi was apparently told by Yasujirō Ozu not to make Sansho the Bailiff because his previous attempts at period dramas had not been a success — thankfully he didn’t listen! “Under Kenji Mizoguchi’s dazzling direction, this classic Japanese story became one of cinema’s greatest masterpieces, a monumental, empathetic expression of human resilience in the face of evil.” — Criterion image #nostr #plebchain #nostrfilmclub #movies #film And please repost and help us share great cinema and film from around the world! Many thanks, Nostr Film Club 🍿❤️🎬📽🍿🎬❤️
