I Might Be a Paranoid Schizophrenic, and this Review is Proof When I found this album I took it for granted that whoever made this made it for fun, but under further inspection this might straight up be some kind of psychological tool for the propogation of racism, submission to anti-institutional organizations, and normalization of sex. The fact that I will never know for sure if this is intended to condition children or to be some absurd art piece makes it one of the most interesting albums I've ever heard. I'm too busy and broke to properly investigate this, but from a few google searches, I found a cult named "Emotional Body Enlightenment" which emerged a little bit before this album was made in Ashland Oregon. Alien Rap was published by a subsidiary of the Astromusic label named Creative Kids Productions which had a PO box in Ashland. This PO box: 3120, has been inhabited by multiple other organizations, almost all of which are short-lived and have a strong Buddhist tint other than Sunshower Learning which seems to be the original owner of the PO box, and the current owner Wright Fulfillment Company. These companies also range in proximity to the PO box. EBE's beginnings are in Germany, so even though Markoe lived in Brooklyn I don't think it's that far fetched for these things to be connected. From what I can tell, EBE focused on recruiting older people, like Markoe. The cult was also derived from Buddhism, and almost all of Markoe's music is Buddhist meditation music. I haven't found any direct connections between Markoe and this cult and don't know any details about if children were involved in the cult (mostly because I don't have the free time to do anything other than skim the results of the first two pages of Google), so this isn't a concrete theory at all. These are all coincidences, but too many of them line up for me to feel comfortable saying this definitely isn't a cult's brainwashing device.
