People post stuff intended to enrich others on Nostr. On other platforms, posts are crafted to extract from others and to enrich themselves. For me, the lower number of users and engagement is not of concern because there’s no value unless it’s genuine. Be generous with likes, if not zaps. It’s that go first, pay it forward, do it because you love it, without permission attitude that is keeping my attention here. #grownostr #like #value #platform

Almost… The last part you paint is the first part people see. As much as I’d like to check it off as done - these final adjustments and details really do matter, at least to me. #grownostr #work #progress #artstr #studio #artist #painting

Just ordered a second Canaan Avalon Q The first unit can hold the temps pretty steady until it dips below about 8C for me A second unit should allow me to heat right thru the winter without running the furnace at all this year. Evening fires in the fireplace 🔥 will be entirely optional. I currently use them to keep the temps from slumping at night. Last year I kept the fires going steady to keep the furnace runtime minimal. Mining is about break even for me, mining for heat and capturing the offset expense as bitcoin is pure fiat recovery dca ROI according to AI speculation looks bullish. If you heat your home, you should consider this option😀 one Avalon Q is probably good for 2000sq ft home depending on the climate. 2 gives you more options to scale the heat output efficiently. #canaan #avalon #heater #furnace #miner #mine4heat #avalonq #heat #bitcoin image

A replica of one of the earliest hockey masks. It was known as the pretzel mask although its creator never referred to it as that. Steve Weatherbee invited us to watch the game from his private box, where his fathers‘ mask design hangs on the wall. Pretty cool. #hockey #pretzel #canucks #mask #grownostr image

True Story: I saw a provocative post on a social media platform and I was about to reply with a witty comment. Then I thought; who cares? This guys a degenerate shill and I closed the app, shared my experience on Nostr. When I visit social media it’s become a crazy place compared to Nostr. It just took some time to get out of the toxic orbit. Back to the easel, getting after it. #grownostr #normies #artstr #studio #artist #painting image

a friend, Jeff Johnston, runs a Youtube channel called UkeeTube. He's a local musician / videographer, he gets some amazing drone footage and impressive views captured. Today he posted a nice longer format video, you might enjoy. #gm #grownostr #ocean #video #chillvibes #jeffjohnston #ukeetube #ucluelet #vancouverisland #canada

Grabbed a coffee with Jason Titian last night. We’ve been friends since about the 6th grade. Jason is a Nuuchahnulth carver from Uchucklesaht His most recent project is this portrait mask with an articulating jaw. It’s not quite finished The mask represent a figure who is kind of a heckler who says aloud the things others wouldn’t or can’t. He’s not so much critical as he is just trying to make sense of his situation. His nervousness and fidgeting, asking inappropriate questions indirectly teaches us about the uncomfortable realities of life. It relates to a societal device that has as once used here; a carved smiling grin that allowed the wearer to say things publicly they could not otherwise say aloud. This new mask is a contemporary persona, who is struggling and flawed, lives in modern culture and is reconnecting with their culture and true nature. Powerful stuff. Jason is thinking of making some videos featuring the mask running his mouth and figuring out some stuff on the way. image

My process starts with some ugly brushwork. That’s fine, it usually works out in the end. 3 new canvases on the easel, let’s go. #artstr #art #studio #workinprogress #process #painting image

Having wasted sufficient time and money with Home Assistant and wiring light switches that my current favourite is: Lutron Caseta Best Overall, Yes they’re expensive and you need the hub. They don’t require a neutral wire, can be wired multiple ways and can use wireless physical remote switches . They have dimmers and looks exactly like the regular paddle switches. They feel premium, work locally. Guests / family use them like normal. Pairing them and adding them to Home Assistant was easy compared to other brands. I like everything about them, except the price. They’re almost double most other brands. I’ve used some in wall Shelly controllers around the house to save a bit. (No dimmers, neutral wire required.) #home #diy #homeautomation #smarthome #lights #homeassistant #smartswitches #lutron image

Apparently Affinity, the photo, vector, layout app is free now. A friend told me of the recent changes and I thought I’d try it rather than begrudgingly renew my Photoshop sub affinity.studio is the web #photo #app #free #edit #software #affinity #canva first impression is that it looks solid, feels like a legit photoshop alternative. Cross platform and free. 🤗
