“We need more bitcoin core development to make Bitcoin work / popular.”
It’s like saying we need to change HTTP to make the web popular. HTTP did not make the web, websites did.

I gave up on the internet a long time ago. The Math is Simple, there won’t be enough IPs for everyone unless we make some Big Changes
People were asking, and I don’t want to hide it. I’m no longer with Block.
I am eternally grateful for the opportunity @jack and others gave me. Thank you.
Basically all I will say on it for now– we built an amazing team, we did all we can. I can say with 100% certainty Block and Jack are doing all they can for Bitcoin. This was the first job where I left it all out on the field to the very end.
To any engineers or otherwise out there, if you have an idea that you are truly passionate about, speak up. You either are at a great place that will elevate you, or you're not, and you deserve better anyway.
It was a leap of faith, but I was lucky to have the former for a long time. I met some great people and got to do soul aligned work I truly believed in. Anyway, good things don't always last.
Full pardon wow

“Campaign donations” are insane because they appear to be one of the most legitimately dangerous things with the potential to gigafry your stack but are exclusively done by literal 100+ coiners who unironically want to “start a btc space race” and basically get oneshotted by them
What’s going on with bitcoin and lightning in 2025? When did shadow custodian become self-custody? I know 2024 was rough but it’s a new year and it’s time for self-custody to make a comeback.
Some thoughts below on how to make that happen, and a tweet thread for those of you who can’t read.
What spawned this? 2024 was a rough year for Bitcoin. We literally lost a year.
Regulatory was one thing, but tech was a whole other story. Lightning developer brethren, when did we give up and accept shadow custody over self-custody? smh
Ecash and liquid are custodians with extra steps. S/o to @calle for being the most intellectually honest out of all the ecashers.
Instead of retreating to custodial solutions, double down with me and try a little harder. I can’t defend ecash or federation mumbojumbo. I can absolutely stand behind an LSP.
The details are in the post, but the gist is this– we don’t need 100% off-chain yet. NFTs lost (again). We have not pushed the Bitcoin blockchain to the point of needing to scale (yet, but if we make a compelling Bitcoin payments application, maybe we’ll actually have a reason to). We don’t need op_codes we need thoughtful design.
I’m thinking of building this, but in the spirit of Bitcoin, Satoshi’s vision etc. I want you to think of building this too. Maybe we can do it together?

Building Self Custody Lightning in 2025
It's time to start building the bitcoin ecosystem we started in 2023 and never got to finish.
Sometimes I think maybe a magazine shouldn’t be the tip of the spear of our industry
This time right now is a once in a lifetime moment.
What other movement makes all of your like minded, high agency, convicted peers financially independent? I’m not a moon boi but this is relentlessly powerful.
It’s the self selecting long play of the century.
I was sad to see Nick Szabo sign off in 2021. It’s good to see him back in the fray somewhere.
Don’t take the old heads for granted. Many have come and gone 🫡
Pushing stablecoins as a way to increase dollar hegemony is strictly worse than the SBR.
El Salvador did always have a bit of an asterisk where businesses were forced to accept bitcoin, never really felt right.
Imagine 2025 the year of ripple, xrp the standard. Who stops this?
