The first Sunday of Lent is the Sunday of Orthodoxy. In many parishes, the faithful bring icons from home and carry them in a procession around the church. On the veneration of icons: "I worship the God who has saved me, who became material for my sake. And I do not cease to venerate the matter through which I have been saved and which is filled with divine grace". ☦️St. John Damascene

Elder Paisios once asked a group of people who gathered around the courtyard of his cell. "Who is the greatest enemy of Orthodoxy"? The people gave many answers. The Holy elder was silent for a while and then said. "The greatest enemy of Orthodoxy is ourselves. If we lived truly Orthodox we would have transformed the whole world and everyone would believe in Christ"
