If you bear your cross with perseverance and seek comfort only from Him, then He, through His mercy, will not abandon you but will touch your heart and will impart to you the gifts of the Holy Spirit. It is then that you will feel an indescribable delight, a wonderful inner peace and joy such as you have never experienced before, and at the same time you will feel an influx of spiritual strength; prayer will become easier and your faith stronger. Then your heart will be kindled with love of God and all people. All these are gifts of the Holy Spirit. When the Lord decides to honor you with such gifts, do not consider them as rewards for your labors, and do not think that you have attained perfection. Such thoughts come from pride. The comforts and grace of the Holy Spirit are not rewards but gifts of divine mercy. ☦️ St Innocent, Enlightener of Siberia and Alaska (Reposed Mar 31, 1879),"The Way Into the Kingdom of Heaven" image

"The Cross means one's willingness to benevolently endure any struggle sent to us by the Providence of God. That is why it is said by St Isaac that when a man is constantly beset by struggles he is under a special Providence of God. Drink up slander any hour of the day like living water, said John of the Ladder; whoever rejected a correct or incorrect reprimand has also rejected salvation. The Lord remembers you by sending you temptations." ☦️ St Ignatius (Brianchaninov)

In 4th century Christendom, the majority were Arian/Semi-Arian. During the iconoclast era, pre 7th Ecumenical counsel, the majority were iconoclasts. There is a lesson to be learned here ☦️

A man asked a priest: "If God is everywhere, why should I go to Church?" The priest replied: "The whole atmosphere is filled with water; but when you want to drink you have to go to a fountain or a well." image

So, we must understand first of all what is world history, what are the forces that shape world history. And that is very simple, basically, because there is a God and there is the devil; and world history goes on between these two adversaries. And man, man's heart is the field on which it is played out. -Fr. Seraphim Rose, Orthodox Survival Course, Lesson 1

John 5:39-47— You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life. I do not receive glory from people. But I know that you do not have the love of God within you. I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not receive me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive him. How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the only God? Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one who accuses you: Moses, on whom you have set your hope. For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote of me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?”
