“What does it mean that by reflecting the glory of the Lord we are changed into the same image (2 Cor. 3:18)? This was more apparent when miraculous gifts were manifested, but even now it is not hard for the eyes of faith to see. For when we are baptized, our soul shines brighter than the sun, being washed clean by the Spirit, and not only do we gaze on the glory of God, but we even take on some of its radiance. Just as polished silver, when set in the sunlight, gives off rays of its own, not only by its own virtue but through the light of the sun, in the same way when the soul is purified and outshines the brightest silver, it is receiving the rays of the Spirit’s glory and participating in the glory itself; and this, of course, is the work of the Spirit of the Lord.”
