if nodes don’t control the network, then how does the network remain decentralized?

For anyone in opposition or on the fence about 110, if you cannot point to how 110’s tighter limits inhibit your use of the network, then perhaps you don’t have a principled reason to oppose it.
Dare I say, 110 probably better serves your interests.

Regarding BIP110:
If your argument depends on “how” “who” “what” or “when” while ignoring “why,” you’re doing battle against a strawman.
Bitcoin is a “why” before a “what.”
Telos informs its technicals.
Function has primacy.
Purpose cannot be divorced from the act of running Bitcoin software.
Why would anyone want a non-110 block?
110 blocks have better specs.
What does a non-110 block do better than a 110 block?

Why I’m Runnint BIP 110.
For me it all turns on defensibilty.
110 is either ≥ legacy
legacy is either ≤ 110
with 110, we can win more defensibilty
with legacy, we can win _____
How do you fill in the blank?
Why should I play russian roulette?

nakamoto consensu is sausage made from everyone putting their dick on the chopping block
it’s not about being right or wrong
it’s about putting it out there
For the people who don't like conflict and the BIP110 war, just know it is necessary.
It's a gift to both sides, no matter who comes out on top.
If you don't test your ideas against proof of work and put them in the fire, you have no fucking clue what they are really made of.
#bitcoin ‘s consensus is an expression of collective self-interest.
I think not understanding that dynamic relation is the principled root cause of all #BIP110 contention.
