Peter Schiff likes to say that bitcoin produces nothing. Well, of course that's not true. It produces monetary security and portability. Something you can't have in gold without a shovel, a yard, or a bank vault. Good luck if you have to move quickly. That's not a greater fool's matter. That's essential to money. Gold to be useful must be placed in a vault for security and turned into paper to be portable. Schiff knows this, but he has a business, and he gets a lot of attention for it. But he's also wrong. The bad part is he knows he's wrong and doesn't care. That's just dishonest.

In Texas, gold and silver will be accepted for payments in 2027, but there's a catch. You will have to deposit it at the Texas Bullion Depository in Leander. You will then be issued digital credits or somesuch on a digital wallet. Sure this is convenient. How else are going to use gold for transactions? But isn't it lovely how the state ends up with all the gold and silver and you once again have fiat? They will have the wealth, and you will have permissioned tokens. Personally, I am fine with giving them the shiny rocks, but think about this with bitcoin. How can you spend it so it doesn't end up in the government coffers (which is what will happen if you spend it at wal-mart) and your decision making remains free from govt intervention?
