So I just learned that most of the AI spam bot replyguys we see often are featured in At the same time genuine new people like @Link-NM are ignored by default clients' WoT filters and even when they break into they still fail to get any reach whatsoever anyway. What does that mean?

We need a reputation system that allows us to tag people who don't deserve an answer because they will just throw questions at us and never acknowledge the response or continue the discussion.

Why do websites like Scribd exist? They allow you to upload a text file and make it show up in all search engines, but charge a membership fee for anyone who wants to read it. There are so many files I tried to read over the years and were only available there, so I never read them. Who are the people who upload these rare files to a place where they know they will be unaccessible forever? Can Nostr fix this?

People should never change their pictures. Once they change their pictures I completely lose track of who they were.

The framing here is very wrong: things can get much worse and not get better for decades, centuries, so it doesn't make sense to claim they will get better at all if all you see is a downward trend. This slogan is repeated too often, and gives people false hopes and make them apathic, thinking that they should just wait and "survive" while things go through a bad period and then get better. That isn't the attitude we need from the people who know what is going on. We need them to do _something_, not only try to egoistically survive. Likewise, things _can_ get a lot better without having to get worse. It makes no sense to claim otherwise. This is just doomerism wrapped in a disguise of false prophecy. View article →

Clients should double down on allowing people to moderate their own comment sections: eliminate annoying, unwanted, harassing replies by just deleting them from your own inbox relays. Maybe even ban someone from ever replying or mentioning you again. Of course, it requires those inbox relays to support this flow, but aside from that it should just work.

IPA-based summarizing implemented in Useless, yes, but some people seem to like it, and now I don't have to do complicated built-in integrations myself, I can just rely on the user-provided inference bridge.

Now this is much nicer, no AI slop for anyone to read: Who knows if this is really useful, probably not. Although I did use it to manage a list of pubkeys (diff from a JSON dump I pasted and insert only the delta into the form) successfully. At least it is more useful than having a stupid chatbot repeating garbage from a slop-generated documentation page at the user. View quoted note →

The way PewDiePie talks is pretty much the same as Jeffrey Hammond in "the hare who lost its spectacles".
