Writing in the Financial Times (paywall), the Bank of England says stablecoins & CBDCs will make payments efficient and global.
Innovate, tokenisation, efficiency, global: lame reasoning obfuscated by jargon.
The real reasons (not mentioned):
- stablecoins can hugely increase sovereign debt markets
-CBDCs can greatly increase surveillance & control 
Everything, including stocks snd commodities, has appreciated today, mostly more than bonds.
Regime propagandists need to be more subtle.

Just been in the baker’s for a loaf. £4.
I remember a woman in there not five years ago who couldn’t believe the price.
“£2? For a LOAF?” she said.
14% annual inflation doubles the price in 5 years.
This is theft, pure and simple.
But it isn’t the baker doing the stealing.
