some months ago I lost pretty all I considered my world. The person that was on my side for the last 5 years and I considered a lifelong partner decided to ghost me in a morning, without other explanations. I was lost. Now I'm grateful for all thats happened. She never loved me and considered me in the way I loved her. We didnt share the same values, the same way to live and the same committement in starting a family. She didnt care to clarify to the person did all for her for the last 5 years whats happened. What changed in her. She just silenced me a morning and decided to not have nothing to do with me anymore. She last me in a shitful interpretation game who would have destroyed a lot of people. But not me. I discovered more about myself in these months than in the last years. I know who I am, what I want. I'm aligned with myself, with my values. I have finally love around me, I'm now able to share all myself with people around. My family, my friends. New people in my life. I'm never been happier. Who would have know that what I have considered the most traumatic experience in my life would have been so good for me? Life is strange my friends, lets live and be present, everyday is literally a miracle.
nixos is the greatest innovation in linux space from decades, hate it or love it.
ok, the t480 is ready to be my machine, just ~2 hours of fine tuning with nixos, I love it😎 Time to run Nix-bitcoin on the old x200 to familiarize with nix, with some nostr relay alongside🤓 Then will sun my balls and stay away from computer as much as I can🙏😋
I used to think that the lack of unix-philosophy in modern software stacks was the hell on earth, but I changed completely my mind. Life is made to touch the fucking grass, lift weights, raise children, suning balls... In this future world I started figuring out, Nixos is the definitive unix killer, finally we can nerd on linux like its macos, where we going we dont need shell scripts or imperative make compilations my friend, things just works here...
ok now I understand why nixos and why systemd. I used to have much time to dedicate to understand and set my machines. Also used to be younger, with better capacity to deal with eye fatigue. Today I'm still the unix nerd who wants to use a simple system, but I want to stay less time as possible in front of a screen. I just want to do the job and go sunning my balls. So I'm not going for setting and tuning my configs manually with the most autistic/unix way, I'm not spinning a gentoo for my new machine and will not tweak the userspace from ground-up. I'm spinning a nixos reproducible machine that somone else has just fine tuned, and will proceed from here. Still mostly commandline, still mostly the userspace a unix nerd would like, but I'll have a ready-to-do-the-job immutable machine in 15 minutes. Nixos and systemd are two of the most dangerous unix-killers for linux environments. I think its time to evolve from unix, touch the grass more. Nixos is the beginning of the linux desktop, unix nerds will not like it.
This video is so good. I'm starting accepting that *some* of the ideas that came out in the last two decades in computer space are not totally bullshit, and I need to move on in an effective way (could even land in the vibecoding territory, who knows...)
nixos failed all the explicit and implicit promises it gave me. Just setted a *simply-will-ever-work-like-I-want* void linux setup (just some hours to setup properly the first time).
NixOS questions here: whats the point of having a declarative, reproducible, hassle-free way to ship linux + sauces if noone literally ships linux with his own sauce as a nixos config(?). 2 options: 1) All you dev/geek guys are larping about nixos and noone really uses it. 2) The dead internet is hiding from me the secret repo of all the (actually working) .nix files to deploy a sane minimal home machine. Should I leave this nixos histeria, or is there something I'm missing here? Are there any diamonds if I'd dig a bit more? Thank you, #gm #pv 🤓 #asknostr #askdev #plebchain #coffeechain #nixos
as a thinkpad x200 hardcore user, its time to upgrade and finally have some work done instead of just nerding on my gentoo/kernel configs to have it running as a modern pc. I bought a thinkpad t480, my x200 will become a bitcoin/cln/nostr node. Expect some vibe coded shit in next months.
