Thinking about the end of the world does not have to be dystopian. Think of [Cabo de Finisterra]( for example. Near where I live, there is a place called Tierfehd, which [Karl Kraus](https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Kraus) once described, romantically, as the end of the world. He meant this in a positive sense: as the end of the hectic, socially surveilled, and unfree world.

Show: "What Bitcoin Did". Episode: "Confuse Experts". When it comes to Bitcoin, Brent's take is "I think X is going to happen, but would not be surprised about -X". @Danny Knowles

Halfway through @Saifedean Ammous' The Gold Standard, I’m intrigued by its novel genre and delighted by how gripping it is. Without giving away too much, the takeaway for me is this: When the status quo drifts too far from reality, imagining—and building—a better one stops being optional.

"Yet the stupidity and senselessness of the war were no impediments to the Kaiser abusing his central bank to finance fighting insane, expensive, pointless wars that were irrelevant to his people in his pursuit of grandeur. Via round. about ways, the German people’s savings were to finance the war effort." @Saifedean Ammous - in "The Gold Standard". You can replace "the Kaiser" with any of President, Prime Minister, King, Queen, The Government and the sentence would still hold. Since hundreds of years. This got to end. Decentralization of power is worth a try.

If you are 50+ (euphemism for old), and zoom out, and zoom out again, and again, aaaand again: what do you see? Me: I am in the post reproductive phase, where I have become invisible to Darwinism. My genes are not going anywhere. And my mitochondria never did. That is kind of cool for a libertarian, isn't it, freedom pure? Now: Jump onto clawdstuff? Or support darwinistically exposed people to jump onto clawdstuff? Hahaha - this is fun. I know my answer - find yours.

Ask yourself how many of your daily services would still work if you were in Iran. Add Gmail to Odell's list. Oh and yes, all my services. View quoted note →

Did you ever watch a fly (of the 1-day life expectancy group) and wondered whether they would engage in a healthy lifestyle? Stretching after landing. Low sugar diet. No high speed adventures. To live 1.01 days? That fly is us.

There is so much interesting stuff that I read, experiment with, try out, and debug that the day is over before I share any of that here. In addition I have a lot of options (both informed and otherwise) which age/wisdom 😇 prevents me from sharing. And then I have accumulated technical user-level Nostr debt like relay mismatch, embarrassing incoming payment failures, etc. All leading to a busy SILENCE 😁

Bitcoin is the best chance to get our lives back into our own hands. People here probably know this. But then, people in control surely know this too, and they will try everything to steal your Bitcoin. Buying, selling, and owning Bitcoin, while ethically and morally clean, may become illegal at some point and for some time. True system change will happen only if we are prepared to hold on to our Bitcoin in such a scenario.

Pilled a restaurant and also let them use my infrastructure. Populating BTCmap one store at a time takes time but that is one basic building block of adoption.

Is obsidian walking the blackberry path? It seems to do everything I need except allowing me to run the server side on my own hardware. Am I missing something?

In every new encounter we have the choice of using our intellect and experience to "defeat" the other, or we can use them to find creative solutions together 🍀.
