In the Dutch city of Franeker there lived a man, Eise Eisinga (https://www.eisinga-planetarium.nl/en/history/), who built the most elaborate planetarium of the time in his house. More and more space in his house was taken up by the gear that drove the dials in the displays in the living. The planetarium was built at the end of the 18th century and today is open to the public and well worth a visit.
I switched browsers (and extension) and managed to lose all my 350 or so follows. Looking at an empty page I hope I can restore my list tomorrow ...
image I enjoyed my two days in Århus even though this stay was much too short.
There are these anchorage fields out in the North Sea along the TSS German Bight/ Terschelling West where tankers and cargo ships wait for their slot. This is possible because the water is no deeper than 30 meter. image
I invested approximately one BTC back in November 2021 for a mining rig (S19XPs) to be ordered, installed, and managed by compassmining.io. Starting in August 2022, one miner was scheduled to come online monthly. In addition, I purchased some miners at the end of 2022 on the secondary market. All in all, I „own“ (aka „pay for“) twelve miners: nine S19xp and three S19j, totaling around 1.5 TH/s on paper. On average, over the last six months, I had less than half of that hash power online, with the rest in repair (the S19XP seems to be a delicate device) or subjected to power curtailments. I would be interested to hear other miners’ experience as to whether this level of uptime is the industry standard or whether it is specific to compassmining. Anyways, hosted mining is all trust without any possibility to verify what is happening - quite the opposite of Bitcoin itself. In the next round, I tend to invest in a local setup where I can walk up to the miners and check what is going on.
On our last miles from Vlieland to Makkum we sailed with a few Dutch tallships. image
I would expect to hear this kind of conversation with top politicians and head of states. Today’s leaders are podcasters and comedians (German speakers will appreciate the highly accurate statements by Marc-Uwe Kling‘s kangaroo. Thank you @Peter McCormack and Konstantin Kisin.
I am planning to upgrade the hardware of my lightning node. I run c-lightning with clboss, RTL and LNbits. The node should be able to handle 300-400 channels. I would be grateful for your recommendations as to what the parameters of the baremetal should be and whether or not to use virtualization. #noderunner
