Here’s an interesting take on how people rationalize their own inaction.. There’s a friend I have been trying to orange pill for years. Yesterday she approached me over phone: ‘Yeah, I thought I’d reach out to you… I know you care very much about the topic of bitcoin and money and freedom and stuff. But, I figured you might be asking why I avoid the subject a bit, and you deserve to know the reason why… She continued: This is not about bitcoin or any of that stuff. I’m sure it is promising and to YOU and other people around you but not to me… There is so much I don’t know. Hell, I also sense there is someting wrong with this world ad well. But I can’t control any of that shit. So, I rather live in the moment, and focus on what I can control instead of worrying about what I don’t understand about bitcoin or nostr, or any other technological innovation I don’t understand. We have it so good here, so I don’t worry about that stuff at all, it makes no sense to me to care about it because it doesn’t change anything in my life. We had an agreement to be very honest to each other, so that is why I wanted to say this to you. To put it blunt, I find it a bit annoying when people talk about stuff they obsess about… I hope you don’t mind and we can talk about so much topics which we both care about…’ I thanked her and said that it is perfectly fine. But, to be honest, what she said stuck with me all day. She is so clever and we laugh so much together and respect her so much.
