The Tale of the Wobbly Foot Once upon a time, in the village of Measurington, everyone used a special wooden stick called the "footstick" to measure things. Builders used it to make houses, bakers used it to size their tables, and even tailors used it to cut perfect coats and dresses. The "footstick" was trusted by everyone because it never changed—always the same length, day after day. One day, the King of Measurington had an idea. “Why should the footstick always stay the same? If I make it shorter or longer whenever I want, it will help me build castles faster and collect more gold!” So, the King quietly ordered the royal carpenter to shave a tiny bit off everyone’s footstick in the middle of the night. The next morning, nobody noticed the change at first. But soon, strange things began to happen. The baker’s table was too small, and his loaves of bread kept falling off. The tailor’s coats were all too short, leaving everyone’s knees chilly. The builder’s walls didn’t line up, and houses started to lean and wobble. “What is happening?” cried the villagers. “We measured everything with our footsticks!” But the changes didn’t stop there. The next week, the King ordered the sticks to be made longer—just a little bit. This time, the builders’ bricks didn’t fit together, the bakers’ tables were too big for their kitchens, and the tailors’ coats dragged along the ground. Soon, everyone in Measurington was confused and frustrated. Nobody could trust the footstick anymore. It was supposed to help them build, bake, and sew, but now it was causing chaos. Finally, a little girl named Lily spoke up. “Why do we let the King change the footstick? It should stay the same so we can all work together and make things that last.” The villagers agreed. Together, they visited the King and said, “We need our footstick to stay the same. A changing measure doesn’t help anyone—it makes life harder for us all.” The King listened and finally understood. “From now on, the footstick will always stay the same,” he promised. “I won’t change it again.” With the footstick reliable once more, the bakers’ bread stayed on the table, the tailors’ coats fit perfectly, and the builders’ houses stood tall and strong. The villagers of Measurington were happy again, knowing they could trust their measurements—and each other. And from that day forward, they learned that a fair and steady measure helps everyone grow and build together. The End.

There are people that stand by first principles and don't follow the pack just because. These are my people Then there are people that just permanently have to be contrarians, regardless of the circumstances. These people are exhausting. #gm nostr ☕
