#Monero using #libertarian who loves computer networking, distributed systems, privacy tech, and testing beta software. I may not be a pro, but I can file a mean bug report. Just bought 2 Baofeng mini 5's for 108.17 mXMR. The reason i wanted them was because they charge with USB-C so they will make good emergency radios because I can power them with USB phone charger batteries that I already own. #Monero #AmateurRadio
Wanted to test out a PR for #Meshcore-open app and it said i needed flutter sdk. Flutter said an easy way to get it was with VS Code. I thought I remembered VS code being made by Microsoft, and therefore I figured it was probably proprietary. Turns out it is open source, but the binaries that Microsoft will give you are not open source, because they have proprietary bits in them, although there is a community project called VS Codium that only builds the FOSS code, so I used that instead. Once I got the Flutter SDK downloaded and set up, I needed to get it into my command line, so had to add it to my $PATH, thanks nano-gpt for the help with that. Then I found out I didn't have the Android SDK and so I couldn't figure out how to get it without downloading Android Studio and I had to accept their license to get that. Hopefully it wasnt too bad because by that point, I just clicked accept to move on.
#XMRBazaar hit a milestone today. 10,000 users have joined the platform. Not bad at all for just turning 2 years old recently.
#Columba just got an update to v2 that lets you block calls from unknown callers. I was having a problem with random people calling me and so had to stop using #Reticulum until this was added. For now, I can still receive messages from anybody, but I can only receive calls from contacts.
#NMail just got an update and fixed a lot of the unlabeled buttons for us TalkBack users.
I am preparing my pizza to munch on for Bitcoin Pizza Day. Purchased with #Monero.
During my last grocery purchase that I paid for with #Monero, I bought two pizzas, one of which I intend to eat tomorrow to celebrate Bitcoin Pizza Day.
Go code monkeys From woodser: this pr is ready for final review to address the exploit. it always verifies the trade message sender against known pub key rings to fix this vulnerability and any potential vulnerabilities in its class. feedback is welcome before merging: #Haveno #Monero
Kind of beginning to wonder if the #Monero ecosystem itself is under attack. A few weeks ago, a Bitcoin exchange called #bisq was hacked and the most common pair on that exchange is Bitcoin to Monero. Then, like a week ago, another decentralized exchange called Thor Chain that is in the process of adding Monero was hacked. Then yesterday #haveno was exploited And I'm hearing rumors that a Bitcoin to Monero Atomic Swap service (eigen wallet) is under distributed denial of service attacks. When you put all of those together in a three or four-week timeframe, that begins to seem a lot less like accidents and a lot more like intentional sabotage. I wonder which three-letter agency it is.
A person in OpenChat admits that they lost something like 520 Monero in the #Haveno exploit. My thought: bruh, that's like life-changing amounts of money. Why would you put that much at risk? I don't think I'll ever see 528 Monero in my entire life, and to put that much at risk is completely unfathomable to me.
That's ironic as hell. Today I learned that standalone push to talk over cellular radios are a thing. And they work just like your standard walkie-talkie, except that they work over cellular. And if the cellular network is down, then they don't work. The ironic bit is that I glanced up at my cellular signal on my status bar only to discover that my cellular network was down. It's back now, but that was quite frankly hilarious.
