In the early days of Vexl, it was just me, going from conference to conference and attending as many bitcoin meetups as I could, meeting plebs, and trying to get the word out. Raising money for a nonprofit that will never monetize is tough. We rely purely on donations, and I’ve had to hustle getting in front of as many people as I can, explaining why Vexl matters, and why taking bitcoin back to its rebel roots is so important. We’re not VC-backed, and we never will be. We are funded purely through donations. Our mission is to make bitcoin truly accessible for everyone by tearing down the barriers and hurdles centralized exchanges and financial institutions have built. KYC is the real dangerβ€”it puts people at risk and creates unnecessary obstacles to learning about and using bitcoin the way it was intended: as peer-to-peer electronic cash, without middlemen. It hasn’t been easy, but thanks to the support of OpenSats and grants like the one they provided, we’ve been able to keep moving forward. And the growth we’re seeing, from Africa to Europe, shows that people are ready for what we’re building, private, trust-based transactions within their local communities, using their real-world reputations with friends and friends of friends. But to keep pushing forward, we need your help. If you believe in this mission and want to be part of bringing bitcoin back to its roots, check out our Geyser page. Every contribution counts, and any zaps sent here will go directly to the fund. Support us here: Bitcoin is freedom money. Together, we can make sure it stays that way.
