(Assuming quality was not a factor in this case) Mere analogy of household budgeting as argued by Adam Smith on how economic protectionism is as irrational for a nation as it would be for a family to refuse to buy anything from outside the home. Just as a family prospers by specializing in what it does best and trading for the rest, a nation prospers by letting its citizens freely buy and sell in the global market. Made yogurt at home today, toddler isn’t drinking as much milk as he used to, rather than reducing the milk supply I told the partner to leave it the same and let’s make yogurt’s rather than buying considering we have yogurt daily. Not sure why I’d delayed trying it out this long. Finally found a good use for the boiler room.

The 9-to-5 grind traps most of us on an endless hamster wheel, leaving zero bandwidth to stop and realize: the people we voted to represent us are screwing us over, and we actually deserve way better. This is my second maternity leave, and once again it’s been a total eye-opener. Same thing happened the first time and during every gap between jobs—when life finally slows down, you see everything clearly.

The more I learn, the harder it is to ignore how far most nations have deviated from what we dare call democracy. If democracy is meant to give every adult a voice, whether by casting their own vote or choosing someone to speak on their behalf, then why do so many decisions feel imposed rather than chosen? Whose interests are truly being served here, ours or theirs? Do we truly elect these people, or are we simply handed the illusion of choice?
