On this recording, we did a technique that I use at the homestead that I call "the swish" where I do passes around the homestead stopping to work on anything that catches my eye for short periods of time. After several passes, the process transforms from simply going back and forth over and over into each action completing several tasks at once. We drill into permaculture, capital, and community by swishing around them over and over throughout the discussion. Thanks for inviting me into the bowl!

One way I think about the produce no waste permaculture principle is to tighten up systems so they aren't leaking energy. Obviously this ties into the catch and store energy principle as well as the integrate rather than segregate principle. The idea of saving time can also be seen as not wasting time. Time is a flow so I think it's more appropriate to think about it in terms of not wasting instead of saving. So basically the number one form of waste I have is time because it's so hard to spend each moment effectively. Only in hindsight, is it revealed if time was wasted or not. That's where the self regulate accept and apply feedback principle comes in to help asses ways to better deal with waste. Pretty wild that no-till can be more damaging to the soil than tillage in many instances. It's all about context, there is no "the way" only ways with trade-offs. #40hpw
