I went to my first Bitcoin meetup. Cool people, but the whole “stacking sats” obsession is driving me nuts. Everyone’s all about hoarding Bitcoin like it’s some holy grail, but I’m over here wanting to buy a jet-powered go-kart, and nobody selling one takes Bitcoin. It’s all fiat-only merchants for that kind of thing. So what’s the deal? Bitcoiners act like they’re for a better currency, but they’re still using dollars for food, rent, and fun stuff. It’s like they’re living in two worlds—stacking Bitcoin for the future while paying for life with fiat. I get it, Bitcoin’s volatile, and they think it’ll be worth a fortune later, but that doesn’t help me now. I want to use Bitcoin for real shit, like buying that go-kart, not just circle-jerking with other Bitcoiners about how many sats I’ve got. The problem is there aren’t enough merchants taking Bitcoin. And the community seems to be blasé about pushing for more adoption. They’re too busy preaching “HODL” to care that I can’t spend my Bitcoin on what I want. How’s this supposed to be the future of money if it’s only useful to the Bitcoin mob? I want Bitcoin to work for everyday buys—coffee, rent, or a badass go-kart—not just be a digital trophy for true believers.
