The reason many bitcoin podcasters suck
is that they stopped learning new stuff sometime during the 2018-2019 bear market
and they’ve been recycling the same talking points ever since
never spent much time looking at new stuff getting built because it’s “scammy & shitcoiny”

I recently fell down the James A. Donald rabbit hole
Aka the guy who first replied to Satoshi and told him that Bitcoin doesn’t scale
I disagree with some political opinions on his blog, but when it comes to Bitcoin he was really ahead of his time
You can read it too: blog.reaction.la
There are only 2 ways to make Bitcoin scalable and fungible:
1. You upgrade Bitcoin with the best tech out there, accept the tradeoffs
2. You use other networks that tokenize bitcoin, such as Beam/DarkFi/Zano. You get the features for BTC, but don’t use the Bitcoin network
But a popular number 3 is:
You pretend that the problems don’t exist, Bitcoin is already perfect and it’s the fault of users for wanting to use Bitcoin or having greater expectations from it

Today in Bitcoin:
LNBits comes out of beta by launching v1, after 5 years of development
BTCPay Server launches multisig feature
If you listened to Bitcoin Takeover podcast S16 E17 + S16 E18, then you already know about these.
Been thinking about the nihilism of the argument
“Even if we double the block size, Bitcoin still doesn’t scale. You won’t be able to include billions of transactions, so it’s pointless to increase the capacity”
Well, yeah but you enable twice as many people to onboard L2s in a sovereign and affordable way. You reduce the reliance on custodians and trusted solutions.
But maybe this is exactly the problem: there’s too much money in “Bitcoin banks” and the narrative that the average user doesn’t want to self custody funds prevails.

My girlfriend and I are working on a manga about the first year of Bitcoin
It describes the event that happened between August 2008 (Satoshi’s e-mails to Adam Back & Wei Dai) and January 3rd 2010 (Bitcoin’s first anniversary).
The goal is to make Bitcoin history fun!

We’re about to break Amir Taaki’s record of 7 hours, 7 minutes, 53 seconds 🤪

Adam Back-san and Hal Finney-san will be your cypherpunk senpai in the upcoming manga “Bitcoin: Year One”
As drawn by my beautiful girlfriend 😍

This cypherpunk is the first person Satoshi Nakamoto e-mailed in 2008
Do you recognize him?
He will be a character in the upcoming comic book “Bitcoin: Year One”, alongside Ray Dillinger, Wei Dai, Hal Finney & @Sirius
As drawn by my girlfriend Annie
Work in progress for the “Bitcoin: Year One” manga-style comic book
This is my girlfriend doing a self-portrait. But Satoshi, Adam Back, Wei Dai, Hal Finney, Nick Szabo & @Sirius will also get portraits in the same style.
Working on a manga-style comic book with my girlfriend
It’s gonna be called “Bitcoin: Year One”
I’m writing the story and doodling the design with stick figures, Annie will turn my childish sketches into real art
Hope we’ll launch this in a couple of months!

Ordered a new shelf for my podcast background
Currently looking for some Bitcoin items/memorabilia to include... but I don't want to get lazy and just put a Block Clock, a B logo & fake plastic plants
Maybe some ASIC miners? My OG Casa Node? Some merchandise?
Any cool ideas?
