“The Bitcoin Core developers get paid in fiat, don’t stack sats and probably don’t run personal nodes either”
Yeah, they’re the people who understand how Bitcoin works.

It's true: tomorrow at 1 PM EST/7 PM CET I will interview Zooko
He was working on Bitcoin before Bitcoin even existed (Ecash, MojoNation)
Then Satoshi added his Jan 2009 blog post about Bitcoin to the project's website
So he took Satoshi's last wish and created Zcash
You’ll never guess who I’m interviewing tomorrow (basically in 24 hours)
He said he wants to break the 8h 30m record
And he is someone who’s been in Bitcoin since January 2009
Can you guess?
Listening to songs about the Silk Road/Ross Ulbricht hits different today

Really powerful speech by Ross
His metaphor with the bee hives & the story about prison factions should really make you think about our infighting.
Bitcoiners have been baited into hating other blockchains & their users, then created purity tests to hate each other.
Who’s winning when we’re fighting?
I’m starting to enjoy the peace of mind of traveling with only a backpack.
It helps me learn to manage limited space and prioritize what is truly important and what is better left at home.
I miss the time when bullish conference presentations were pumping the price
As a matter of fact, when was the last time good news pumped the price at all? We’re in a very apathetic phase of the market.
Bought my fragola & nocciola gelato with bitcoin from Sablé in Bologna.
It tastes much better when you fumble the bag of generational wealth and condemn your grandchildren to work for a living 🍦

Why is it that the price of bitcoin always drops during these Bitcoin Magazine conferences?
The guys on stage tell you to never sell and swear that they’re hardcore HODLers, but when you look at the market you find a different reality.
The year is 2025, I’m a bitcoiner and the last time I wore a suit was at a friend’s wedding.

There is no second best paper asset

I get lots of these e-mails from marketers who claim they know how to help me get 1000 more followers/subscribers in a month
What they don’t know is that Bitcoin Takeover podcast is a nerdy, technical & niche within a niche show.
Bringing 1000 listeners who don’t understand what any of this is about is a waste of time for everyone involved
Changing the format to please the new 1000 also dilutes the quality and will alienate the hardcore fans
Remember: Jesus only had 12 followers and that’s all it took to start a movement

I used to love Monero until I realized that:
1/ it’s bitcoin’s main competitor for medium of exchange
2/ monero tech most likely won’t come to bitcoin
3/ zcash has been pushing Bitcoin privacy research (Zerocash), it’s 100% compatible with BTC and may return to the mother ship one day
4/ monero’s privacy is based on the Chaumian principle of hiding in a large crowd. Zcash’s ZK SNARKs won’t even reveal that a transaction took place and they scale better for storage.
Yeah, the all time high is nice
But did you notice that bitcoin.com is now orange?
Sold bitcoin, bought pizza 🍕
Now what?!

Happy Bitcoin pizza day! 🍕
Does anyone know a good way to contact Laszlo these days?
Would love to get him on my podcast!

An ideal version of Bitcoin should have:
– all the OP codes that builders need to start working (CTV, CAT, CFSF, BIP300)
– Zcash privacy
– large enough blocks to support the Lightning network
– Lamport/Winternitz signatures for quantum resistance
– 64 bit integers for timestamps, to prevent the 2106 incident
– a proper dev culture which supports builders and encourages them to use Bitcoin, as opposed to sending them to other networks just because some self-proclaimed Austrian economist thinks the system is already perfect
Bonus: a different mining algorithm that gives better chances to normal computer users to find blocks. If it's too insecure, use a Proof of Stake hybrid which rewards nodes that store the entire history of the chain and also hold more than 0.01 BTC.
Upcoming Bitcoin Takeover podcast interviews:
S15 E27 with David Seroy (Alpen Labs)
S15 E28 with Zooko (cypherpunk who worked on Ecash with David Chaum, blogged about Bitcoin in January 2009, built ZK stuff with Zcash)
S25 E29 with Peter Rizun (former maintainer & advocate of Bitcoin Unlimited, now into hardware)
And maybe a couple more surprises in between 🙃
