Finally saw Christopher Nolan’s Odyssey The story about Jack Dorsey’s struggles to become Twitter CEO once again I’m happy that I watched it so I know to avoid it on TV or streaming services Nolan took one of the most epic stories ever told and turned it into a gritty character study that’s void of any beauty The colors are pale and ugly, the otherwise beautiful Greek islands where they filmed look pale, and there is no beauty to be seen in any of the actors and actresses on the screen (with the sole exception of Anne Hathaway who’s an absolute queen) You barely see any Greek-looking faces. Which is ironic because the movie is so inclusive that Ulysses has an East Asian crew member. The scene with the siren song is so trivial that they just row by without showing what the sirens look like. Why? Because the sirens are supposed to be beautiful and there’s no room for beauty in this film. I liked Nolan’s earlier films. I loved Memento and The Prestige. I watched his Batman trilogy and even enjoyed the last film. I even thought Interstellar was deep and tried to make sense of Tenet. But please keep this man away from mythology. My Thracian ancestors, who were basically cousins of the Greeks, would be angry to realize that their men and women look so plain and ugly. And that the lands for which they started wars are stripped of their vivid colors. Fuck this movie and the DEI religion that spawned it. When I sit down for 3 hours, I want to be mesmerized by beauty and feel like I’m experiencing a fairytale.

If you spend a bull market and a bear market in the space, you become a bitcoin maximalist. If you spend more than 2 bear markets in the space, you become a shitcoiner. This applied to the 2011 OGs who backed the ICOs in 2017, still applies today to 2017 maxis who now like Zcash, Monero, Drivechains eCash, and even the BIP110 bdash. Stick around for too long and you can’t be bitcoin-only anymore. That, or you own too much fiat in your bank account.

Tonight I’ve started the process of remastering my entire podcast catalogue When I first started in 2019, I didn’t know too much about sound engineering (I was using too much reverb & mastering in headphones) and I also had entry level equipment 7 years later, I have much better technology and I can make every interview shine. I will also take advantage of this opportunity to fill my backlog: write a blog post about each and every interview, add individual Spotify graphics for every episode, upload YouTube videos of all the interviews that never made it there. If I do 1 episode/day (very unlikely due to traveling to conferences), I should complete the work in 1 year. But maybe in 18 months I will have everything ready and up to the standard that I’ve come to expect these days. Sometime next year, I want to also release the podcast in physical format for the big fans who also want to collect the content. Kind of like a DVD release with bonuses, except that it will probably be a 2 TB hard drive 😅 Anyway, it feels exciting to rediscover my older work. I cringe myself a little bit when I hear myself speak… but this only means that I improved over the years. Will post more updates as I continue the process. Today I did S1 E1 with the late Donald McIntyre, God bless his soul.

Vlad, how can you be so right about so many Bitcoin topics? Well, I’m glad you asked. I have 3 simple principles: 1. I look up to the builders, the visionaries & the guys I consider smarter than me. Not those who have been historically right, not the narrative gatekeepers. The guys who want Bitcoin to do everything and have a plan to make it happen. 2. I don’t care about what the others think. The high priests of the church of maximalism, the plebs, the pseudo celebrities like Max Keiser and the consensus craftsmen like Greg Maxwell or Mr. Hodl. I do my own thing without caring about public perception or whatever. 3. I always assume that I might be wrong and prepare accordingly. You can call me out for not having enough conviction, I don’t care. I’m here to breathe fresh air, not smell brainfarts in the same room philosophizing about their purity. This means sometimes I have to leave the room and take a look (and a sniff) from outside.
