A friend of mine had a conversation yesterday with a person that works for the DoD in their post-quantum research group. He was saying we are 2-3 years out from scalable quantum computing. There was a time when life felt simpler, not because it was better, but because we didn’t question it. We drank the cola, ate the fries, took the pills, and trusted the smiling faces telling us they were “for the people.” We didn’t care what was in our food, or our water, or what numbed us into complacency. Politicians promised prosperity while quietly starting forever wars in our name. Corporations fed us chemicals dressed up as convenience. We were sold comfort over consciousness. Looking back, it’s wild to realize how much of our lives were shaped by things we never questioned. Simpler times? Maybe. But ignorance is only bliss until the bill comes due.
