Isolation is key for security. If you build a Lightning-enabled app, you don't want to grant it access to all funds on your node. Use LNbits as an intermediate layer for security to give your app its own wallet. Whatever could go wrong with it, only its own wallet is at risk.

Q: Will there be one big Cashu mint that everybody uses? A: No. Many websites, services, exchanges, wallets, mining pools, financial applications are going to run their own mints and offer vastly improved versions of their already existing products and they will develop new services enabled by the properties of ecash. We're building the infrastructure for that based on an open protocol. Every balance in every app that isn't non-custodial Bitcoin should be ecash.

🔥🥜 Milestone release: Cashu Nutshell 0.13.0 – Ecash seed phrase backups! Cashu aims to be the open ecash protocol for the web built on #Bitcoin. One of the big challenges of ecash lies in its barer asset nature: if you lose your wallet, your funds are gone. Not anymore! 👇 In this update, we introduce BIP32 secret derivation and BIP39 mnemonics. You can write down your 12-words and store them safely just like a Bitcoin seed phrase. If you lose access to your wallet, you can use your seed phrase to restore your balance. To update Nutshell, enter `pip install cashu -U`. Once updated, you can see your mnemonic via: `cashu info --mnemonic` To restore your wallet (wallet must be new!), enter: `cashu restore` For now, this is only available in Nutshell, the reference implementation. However, we aim to provide the same functionality across all Cashu wallets. Stay tuned!
