While I'm hopeful for the future, its tough to deal with the realities of where we are today. As an aircraft mechanic, the AI crash just put an extra slice of shit on the shit sandwich.
Just going to fast a couple days to try and not feel so guilty for going about my daily life, watching the chaos from afar.
Stay safe and stack sats everyone!

Advice for those coming to Vegas from a Vegas local
Try to enjoy the dopamine fix for a bit, knowing you will be home before long. Vegas is a one of a kind city where you will find whatever pleasure it is you're looking for. Try to enjoy it for what it is, and avoid the deceptive tactics. Dont go full degen! I would also advise getting away from the strip and experiencing some of the other places in vegas.

Here is a specific failure of fiat that i havent heard many people talk about.
Speaking as an airline mechanic with personal experience through this.
So during covid, airlines were given huge stimulus to retain employees and keep "critical infrastructure" in place while everything was shut down.
Coming out of covid, with the economy freshly stimulated, travel demand immediately came back with a vengence.
We had to get all of the stored planes out of storage in a very quick amount of time.
Many airlines, with the travel outlook looking great, and strong balance sheets, used this opportunity to put in huge orders of new airplanes, in this case, the 737 Max.
As all Airlines were rushing to hire new mechanics for the growth and to replace those that were given early retirement packages, Boeing, who pays significant less than most airlines for certified mechanics, also struggled with staffing.
With Boeing promising more aircraft than they could deliver, there was imense pressure on the techs to crank out airplanes as fast as possible to stick to the timeline.
Then, the door plug on an Alaska Airlines 737 Max fell off in flight. This happened because of the tech who removed the door for access to replace rivets, due to a quality issue, failed to document that the door was removed. The tech who replaced the rivets temporarily put the door in place when he was finished and because it was never documented as removed, It didnt get a permanent install.
Accidents in aviation happen, theyre not supposed to happen like this, in production especially. You can easily blame the tech for forgetting, but these things are much more likely to occure under heavy pressures and stress.
So what happened? Boeing CEO recieved a 45% raise.
If not for fiat, Boeing should have been bankrupt and likely bought out and management replaced. Instead they are all rewarded for their mismanagement, straight from uncle Sam's teet.
