Most churches are bursting at the seams on Christmas and Easter. Filled with people we haven’t seen 4-8 months, many we’ve never seen before and won’t see again. Something about these two Holy Days that draws a crowd. We’ve come to affectionately call such people the “Chreasters”. I encourage you not to be a “Chreaster”. Today is Palm Sunday, the beginning of Holy Week, followed by Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, The Great Vigil, and Easter Sunday. The apostles, once scared and hiding after the crucifixion, spread across the Roman world proclaiming the risen Christ after the resurrection. Most faced brutal deaths: crucifixion, beheading, stoning, spearing, burning. They had nothing earthly to gain, everything to lose. They claimed to be eyewitnesses of the resurrection.
