I feel lucky to have travelled in an era when Google Maps/Translate and 4G weren't really a thing yet (2000s to early 2010s). Not to say it was better, but the fear of getting lost was more "real"- not figuratively, and not performative. You literally had to ask for directions, struggle with language, and sometimes maps had to be manually drawn on a scrap of paper by helpful strangers. If you didn't find your way and miss the last bus, then you'd have to stay another night. Those days were fun.

In your travels, are there places that made you cry? Mine are:
1. SYRIA. Was so touched by the kindness of new friends who woke up early in the morning just to see me off at the airport. Started to cry when they were thanking me we met- when it should have been the other way around. Like do I even deserve that? (This is just before the civil war broke out.)
2. PAKISTAN. Oh, my trip wasn't even half-done yet but I was already crying. The experience was just so pure and raw. I didn't want to leave.
3. BERLIN. Bag got stolen, and lost my teddy that I'd travelled with for years.

Am slowly easing back to social media and feeling a bit chatty (in my head) lately.
