The Art of letting go I've always been a tryhard. Not according to rules of others, like climbing corporate ladders or making LinkedIn posts about what I've been thinking while eating my burger at McDonald's, that those employees should study culinary secrets during their work breaks. But always comparing myself to my own standards. Like this should work and it doesn't let's push through it until it does type of thing. Sometimes this approach beared fruits, but sometimes it bears only frustration as we fundamentaly cannot see all things at once, over our own horizons with our ultra focused tunnel vision on one aspect. That is why it's important to let go sometimes and let the flow of things resolve itself. I struggled a lot with a big order from my valued customer. Three refires all wen to shit. I tried pushing through it with my might, mind and skills. But it brought only frustration of wasted time and efforts. As if the universe was against it. I always wanted to make kind of "kintsugi" effect on my ceramics but never could actually done it. With my last refire I let go. I told myself fuck it and stopped fixing "mistakes" on the glaze and just went with whatever the glaze itself wanted to do. Lo and behold, the effects of not trying. Kintsugi effect without my mind, might or skill was the whole time just before me and I just needed to let it flow. image

Fire doesn't ask your permission https://video.nostr.build/5772024b3ebfec0e8b80c8a86ce68e8aff03d6e175c7dc5494175624b97dc8b4.mp4 I have a background in exact, predictable and repeatable processes. I thought most things and events can be foreseen and predicted nearly exactly. When I started making ceramics I was quickly met with a disappointment within my vision. Nothing and I mean nothing went according to plan and my views of the product. I tried to force it, make better processes, measure everything precisely with calibrated equipment but still, it never turned out how I envisioned it You have to adapt. Change your ways even if they are deeply rooted inside you. Your body and your whole evolution screams in disbelief trying to disobey you. But your history, ancestry, experience shall not be a solid, unchangeable block of your existence, but an inspiration, a baseline for your further exploration. Because only when you leave rigidity behind and are willing to morph your seeded views, only then you can learn. And what is life without learning? A life without excitement. Yet, we learn based on our excitement. It is a self encouraged circle. Like Ouroboros, you stop one thing and the circle ends, you support other and the circle ends too. You seek balance. Thus is the fate of men. I changed my views, adapted and learned so much I've never thought I would. Not knowing the result excites me. I don't fight it. I embrace it and something very rare happens πŸœ‚πŸœƒπŸœ #valravncrafts #nostrart #plebcraft #ceramics #functionalware #handthrown #kilnmagic #slowcraft
