Let's not even talk about the mandatory digital ID business owners that has been operational since November last year. Given His Majesty's declaration yesterday on digital IDs, the only free people left in Britannia are going to be outlaws, as most will complain under their breath but eventually comply.

One of the reasons you are seeing all manner of surveillance infrastructure from flock cameras to Altman orbs is because surveillance is the necessary architecture of coercive revenue extraction aka taxation. The state cannot collect without surveillance, it cannot surveil without demanding disclosure and it definitely cannot demand disclosure without presuming concealment. The entire fiat system is built on the foundational assumption that, if you're left unwatched, you will cheat. That you must continuously, perpetually, exhaustingly prove your innocence to an institution that has never proven its right to ask. On the other hand, privacy is not the refuge of criminals, but it's one of the preconditions of dignity. The person who has accepted that surveillance is cool because they have "nothing to hide" has accepted, in advance, that the state's curiosity is more legitimate than their own sovereignty. That is not a free person but a slave.
