Parallels was up for renewal today. ~AU$140/year Used to use it a lot when I was working in different roles but now only used for a single VM. Took a bit of effort to get up and running but switched to UTM - open source. Bit embarrassed it took so long for the switch. While I was at it I also got rid of some other software that I know has heaps of telemetry and could be considered somewhat user-hostile: - Raycast - I’d already switched back to Alfred recently - Warp - now using Ghostty

My 2026 in “3 M”s Meditation - create more time and space and calm the monkey brain down Math - it’s been almost 20 years since I did much math during undergrad physics and my math brain has completely atrophied Monitoring - I’m working on the Bitcoin monitoring challenge, looking to support @b10c in his heroic efforts of many years

I just published my latest research at: I analysed all 2.4M P2MS UTXOs. 99.98% are data carriage, with only 552 outputs (~0.02%) appearing to be legitimate multisig custody usage. Around 75% of P2MS outputs are permanently unspendable due to use of fake keys. Bitcoin Stamps dominates at 74% of all P2MS UTXOs - all created since early 2023, and all deliberately unspendable! With Bitcoin Core v30 removing OP_RETURN limits, and Bitcoin Stamps no longer embedding "art" in P2MS outputs (the original justification for P2MS permanence), I believe there is now a reasonable case for deprecating P2MS creation entirely!
