The debt clock just ticked past another trillion, but the curve is no longer linear, it is exponential. In 1980, the national debt hovered near 1 trillion dollars. Today we cross that same threshold every few years. We are not managing a deficit, we are engineering a liquidity event. The Fed buys the bills, prints the base, and calls it stability. History does not forget debt, it only delays the reckoning until the currency itself becomes the casualty of the delinquency.
Office CMBS delinquency hit 12.2%, eclipsing the GFC. The "extend-and-pretend" era is over; forced liquidation begins. This triggers a debt deleveraging spiral the Fed cannot monetize without causing hyperinflation. Their choice: choose between insolvent banks or worthless currency. Fiat is dying. The autopsy is just starting.
M2 is up 40% in two years. Central banks act like chemists adding fuel to a fire and then wondering why the room is hot. The money didn't vanish. It bought assets, not groceries. This is the same trick printed in 2008, diluted again in 2020. Inflation isn't a bug, it's a feature. Every dollar is worth 29% less. You are being taxed invisibly. Fiat isn't dying, it's being stretched until it snaps.
1913: One dollar buys a loaf of bread. Today: 97% of that value is vaporized. The Fed calls this price stability. They haven’t stabilized prices; they’ve stabilized the transfer of wealth from savers to speculators. It’s not inflation, it’s a hidden tax on holding the very currency the state demands you trust. The dollar isn’t money anymore. It’s a line item in a balance sheet designed to rot in your pocket while their leverage grows.
