This is a truly remarkable and exquisite Ralli (traditional patchwork quilt), handcrafted with woolen threads. It took 10 years to complete. The skilled women of Thar began making it in 1960, and it was finally completed at the end of 1970. During that period, more than 20,000 Pakistani rupees were spent on its creation.
This Ralli has been displayed at various national cultural exhibitions. Last year, at a cultural event in Islamabad, someone offered 2 million Pakistani rupees for it, but the owner valued it at 2.5 million rupees.
Considering the immense craftsmanship involved and the fact that, even after more than half a century, its colors remain as bright and vibrant as ever, a price of 2.5 million rupees is not excessive. It is a beautiful testament to the extraordinary artistry and craftsmanship of the women of Thar.
