"Nature's ledger (gold) has robust parameters for supply and debasement but doesn't move and get verified fast enough in the telecommunication age. Mankind's ledger (the dollar) moves and gets verified fast enough but doesn't have robust parameters for supply and debasement. The only way to fix this speed gap in the long run would be to develop a way for a widely accepted, scarce, monetary bearer asset itself to also be able to settle over long distances at the speed of light."

What a paragraph to end a section. Brilliant summary and setup. Fantastic read thus far, @Lyn Alden! Thank you.

LN nodes are hawaladars? Seems similar, but hawaladars require trust (between each node, sender, & recipient), whereas LN nodes are trust minimized.
@Whitney Webb appreciate your call to action.

@MetropleX [GrapheneOS] ⚡🟣 is there a way to donate to GrapheneOS using LN?
Low time preference = waiting for 1-2 sats/vB
@Marty Bent that ETF conversation with Fred was a helpful window into how people in Fred’s socio-economic group might respond to a bitcoin ETF. I also thought you did a good job interviewing and staying respectful. Kudos and thanks for bringing Fred on!

@OpenSecret how is the channel open fee communicated to a new user when they want to claim their gifted sats via Mutiny? Is it the same new user flow ?

The infinite became finite, the eternal and supratemporal entered time and became subject to its conditions, the immutable became mutable, the invisible became the visible, the Creator became the created, the Sustainer of all became dependent, the Almighty infirm. All is summed up in the proposition, "God became man." — John Murray
Is there a way to receive alerts when mining fees drop to a certain average? @mempool
It seems a lot of people are not paying attention to how much they are overpaying in fees relative to the value of their transaction. 🫠💸
Fees are slowly coming down.
Seems like Zeus Pay is the culprit? @ZEUS
I’m happy to report that the embedded node in Zeus and Robosats work well.
I’ve been learning more about sovereign and private lightning usage. Darthcoin’s write up on various LN topics have been useful.

Metal backups, the ones into which you punch divots, are great until you need to destroy them (for privacy). Punching divots in most letters is a major pain. Obfuscation through divots plus angle grinder seems to be the way.
nostr:e1ff3bfdd4e40315959b08b4fcc8245eaa514637e1d4ec2ae166b743341be1af channel was forced closed in Mutiny over 2 days ago and I’m waiting for funds to show up in my on chain balance. I checked the logs today and am seeing:
ERROR [mutiny_core::onchain:73] Failed to broadcast transaction (REDACTED): Reqwest(reqwest::Error { kind: Status(400), url: Url { scheme: "https", cannot_be_a_base: false, username: "", password: None, host: Some(Domain("mempool.space")), port: None, path: "/api/tx", query: None, fragment: None } })

Total of four occurrences in the logs since the forced close.
What do I need to do to resolve the error? Keep waiting?
