I think the majority of US citizens think our money is like a natural law. That the dollar has been, and always be. In reality many of the tools that put most dollars into the world were only created within the last 10 +/- years. Even before that there was constant changes, like both Breton Woods agreements.
Realizing that money isn't some monolithic feature of society is a key to understanding bitcoin and the true role money has on impacting society. It is also central to understanding how powerful an protocol that doesn't rely on a select few decision makers is.
