Just a bit of FOSS tinkering this morning. Badass: @Djuri has #bitaxe stats integrated into his #btclock project! More badder ass: Include the Bitaxe logo! @skot9000 image

If you live in LA long enough, you start recognizing people you know in movies and on TV. Started watching Skeleton Crew last night and was happily surprised to see that one of my friends was the first extra killed in the show! 🤣 image And then only after seeing the credits did I realize that ANOTHER friend was in the same ep! image Jack is a world-class juggler. Basically any time you see juggling in a Hollywood production, odds are pretty good that it's Jack. I should've known. OF COURSE he was the juggling holographic poodle!!! 🤣 image

Last night's experiment: image 40% whole wheat 3% flax 90g sun-dried tomatoes 60g shredded parmesan 2 sprigs of fresh rosemary Extras folded in after bulk ferment during pre-shaping. Tastes pretty dang good!!! But next time: * MOAR rosemary and parmesan. * Add the rosemary at the beginning. * Maybe add the parmesan at the beginning (adding the cheese late prevented the folds from sealing together, creating too many gaps)? Would the acidic(?) tomatoes affect the fermentation? * Would have used rye if I had any on hand. #bread #sourdough #baking

I posted a note yesterday from Coracle BUT I think for some reason my browser tab didn't have nos2x enabled. That post never got out, but I didn't see an error when sending. Is it possible that Coracle just silently sat on it without a notification? --- (Posting this from Coracle... but w/nos2x enabled!)

Back home after 12 days in El Salvador. Apologies, but I was mostly quiet on nostr due to some limited connectivity. * Airbnb internet connection was dead for basically the entire second half of my trip. 🙁 * @https://silent.link worked great but not gonna stream tons of content in/out of nostr over a pay-as-you-go data plan. Local cell network was ~$7.50/GB. I did YOLO back into nostr at the airport and holy shit did I eat up my remaining data balance fast!! Also, I still use twitter and think of it as my "work" account. And this trip, even the non-bitcoin site seeing and whatnot, all felt appropriate for my "work" audience since El Salvador is such a big part of the bitcoin story.

🔥 @SeedSigner en español GETTING CLOSER!!! 🔥 It seems so simple, but it took me all day to add the logic to make our titles able to scroll. Certain phrases in other languages just aren't going to fit on our tiny screen so this was always a must-have part of this multilanguage effort. But all of our UI components are custom built -- can't just whip out some css or JS -- so any new behavior takes some work to add in. Tomorrow: Do the same thing for button text (looking at you, "Herramientas"!).

Which browser tab is eating up 5 GB of RAM?!!! @primal. Basically every other day or so I kill the tab to free up the memory. Can y'all limit your caching? I know nothing about browser-side caching, memory management, etc. But this is pretty ridiculous.

What do the anti-seed oil folks think about algae cooking oil? I've been using avocado oil + cast iron for years. Started reading up on oxidation in olive oil (tldr: basically hopeless if you buy it at a grocery store) and apparently avocado oil can / does(?) have similar issues. This stuff claims to have more oxidative stability (when heated; dunno at rest) and the aluminum bottle is better than the typical plastic or glass. see: https://algaecookingclub.com/about #seedoil #food #foodstr #cooking

Finally watched "Idiocracy". No, that's not a snarky reference to the debate. Just figured the movie would be the better option.

First attempt at making a #keto #bread! Flax, almond flour, eggs, bit of greek yogurt, olive oil. image Trying to refine my approach to keto: reduce my saturated fat intake and lower my cholesterol levels (yes, I read Lopp's article and yes I got the advanced lipid panel test). Incorporating flax seeds seems like an easy win. image Tastes mostly neutral, but finishes as salty olive oil. Not bad, but not great. I've been putting slices in the toaster to crisp up the mushier inside. That def improves the experience. Spreading some butter on was a bad call; accentuated the saltiness in a bad way. Tried it with some pesto; if you have a pesto you really like, it could work great. My pesto was so-so, so meh. Biggest success: dip it into a tikka masala sauce! image For the next batch I'll try to make it a more savory herb (rosemary, oregano, black pepper) bread, less salt, less oil, and swap some oil for butter. #foodstr #lowcarb Recipe: https://nest-wellness.com/recipes/flax-bread-keto-paleo-and-low-carb/

Two significant-ish "akshually"s but also a DEFENSE of @OpenSats in regards to @SeedSigner. On @RABBIT HOLE RECAP #320, @ODELL said: "There's multiple conspiracies with OpenSats and two of the key ones is Knots and SeedSigner. And neither have submitted applications. If you're a developer or a contributor working on either of those things, opensats.org/apply" Akshually: 1.) SeedSigner DID submit an OpenSats application for the project as a whole. The application languished for months (perhaps 6mo to a year?) and was ultimately declined with the explanation that it was easier/preferable to support individual devs than whole projects. 2.) Based on that feedback, I submitted an OpenSats application to fund just me specifically. That was also declined. BUT the rationale was because @HRF had just announced a 6mo grant for me. I was encouraged to reapply to OpenSats before that HRF funding expired. The delays around 1.) were totally understandable. OpenSats is a VOLUNTEER effort and had even fewer human resources at that time. But also: they don't owe us a f'n thing!! They're under no obligation to say "Yes" nor should we ever have the arrogance to think we deserve to demand a "Yes"! BUT the delays to get to ANY answer were VERY frustrating and likely added to some of the bad blood in the water amongst those watching the project closely. Eventually each "later, soon..." response was received with increasing cynicism and creeping conspiracy theories. The "No" was totally reasonable. Getting to "No" faster would have been better. The "No" on 2.) was also totally reasonable. No complaints from me whatsoever. I also strongly believe that THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN A "YES" had the HRF funding not come through. I consider O'Dell a friend and an ally. When I saw him in Nashville I gave him a hug and said, "I appreciate you." I'm not about drama. Not here to start any shouting matches. Just trying to paint a clear picture about what was good and what was bad throughout our interactions with OpenSats thus far. And full disclosure: I'm prepping a new grant application for myself for OpenSats. So, sure, I have personal reasons for not wanting to burn this bridge. But the reality is that there was just nothing outrageous or awful or controversial about our interactions. Circumstance and timing weren't right for attempts 1.) and 2.). Crossing my fingers for upcoming 3.). Conspiracy theories are dumb.

Hey nostr, hit me with some fun / interesting / unique people to follow who don't just post about bitcoin and macro* all the time. I want my nostr experience to be broader, cover more varied and unexpected interests. For example, I love #dogs, science, engineer nerd shit, positive vibes, not insane health and wellness ideas**, films, photography, improving my pistol skills, gymnastics / acrobatics, DIY!!!!, woodworking. ...and everything else. --- *(I'm already a bitcoin maxi; I follow plenty of y'all already!) **(nah, not gonna touch grass; triggers skin allergies)
