I‘m usually early or on time. Today this paid off, because the system at the Harare checkin was down, which is very common. Behind us the queue was building while we are already at the gate. Leaving the African continent for Europe. I have been in Kenya, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Will hopefully be back in a couple of months. Going is always a rollercoaster of emotions, sad to leave, happy to arrive.

Really sad to watch this. After the Europeans and Americans, the Chinese are the new conquerors of the African continent with support of local ruling parties. 10% of people are profiteering, while 90% of the population is suffering. "Complaints are mounting in Zimbabwe, where Chinese mining companies have a history of labor, environmental and human rights abuses. Same story across the continent, as China taps into vast reserves of cobalt, copper, gold, lithium and other minerals."

Had a fantastic Bitcoin meetup with 30 participants in Bulawayo today. First the locals Langa and Alexandria spoke about Bitcoin as an alternative to the inflationary national currencies and the historic role of money in the slave trades. After my Bitcoin 101 we installed Misty @Breez ⚡️ and practiced receiving and sending. Zimbabweans understand the value of Bitcoin immediately as they went several times through hyperinflation recently. Sitting on a bus between Harare and Bulawayo traveling 7 hours through the countryside of #Zimbabwe and sending instantly settled money from my somehow self-hosted Misty @Breez ⚡️ wallet to my self-hosted Lightning wallet @npub148qm...jra7 and back. On mobile data. It still baffles me how it - compared to the traditional systems - is fast, cheap, secure and permissionless. I‘m living in the future. I hope to see it coming into general use. The bus driver just did a very risky maneuver.
