Flashback to BTCPrague 2024! I was speaking about Bitcoin and how it enforces human rights on stage and Aukse & Anja included me in their film: Proof of Women. It came out great!

As a Bitcoin advocate it is frustrating to see that more and more Bitcoin supporters seem to not at all share an interest in empowering people, supporting human rights and topple autocrats. Quite the opposite! No wonder the public perception of Bitcoin is negative. Video:

I thought I added the word „enough“ before privacy, when I wrote this reply, but somehow it didn’t make it there. „Enough“ privacy I was meaning to say. I lived in Zimbabwe a country that is ruled by a government that is detaining and killing people for their speech and opposition. I know about the dangers of having no privacy, I put myself in that danger. My lived experience from Zimbabwe is that self-custodial LN, Liquid and non KYC Bitcoin exchanged P2P is good enough (with BOLT12 privacy on LN will be increased). Monero has higher privacy that’s true, but you won’t find anyone accepting it or exchanging it to cash on the ground. And activists need the cash to be able to do their work. View quoted note →
