An earlier chapter in CIA (MK Ultra) mass brainwashing. Peace n love (once again). And what 'good' person doesn't ultimately want that? Might be an uncomfortable one for many. Later boomers mostly. It was entirely romantic to envision themselves as crusaders for human rights and ending the 'war machine' but this is what was used to incubate the first version of anti-Americanism and the narrative of the oppressive western 'patriarchy.' Kids didn't come up with that shit themselves. It also allowed the US Gov to smear an otherwise legit anti-war movement that was gaining a lot of momentum at the time. No doubt they probably ALSO learned quite a lot about propaganda effectiveness. Public played, and played WELL.
