I've been Linux-only for over 10 years.
Arch Linux + KDE Plasma = this is what I advise everyone to try at least 1-3 months in their life.
I've tried ~50 distros, with almost all Desktop Environments, and I'm happy with Arch + Plasma.
Heard good things about CachyOS (which is Arch-based). You can try it, there GUI installation in 3 clicks.
KDE Connect (on GrapheneOS) + KDE Plasma on a laptop is something I can't imagine my comfort level without.
I'm also a big fan of Syncthing.
Also, my online life wouldn't be so convenient and secure without KeePassXC.
Some FOSS is truly amazing.

A pretty decent essay.
I want to add something as a resident of Europe.
*DISCLAIMER*: you read on at your own risk; you may get your ass burned regardless of your political stance. ⚠️
The fact is that open borders advocates (leftists/liberals), like conservatives/rightists/ultra-rightists, are equally mistaken in assuming that they are right in their approaches to governing a certain area called "the state".
Leftists (of all kinds) mistakenly assume that most migrants from incompatible cultures will be able to integrate into one of the European cultures, and then we will all hold hands and dance and sing joyfully and there will be no crime.
In theory, this could happen, and it's clearly a longer journey than government "integration courses" that last a few months, which, dare I suggest, have no effect on the number of rapes and other violent crimes in European countries. (oops, you can't talk about that in Europe 🤭).
Conservatives and other right-wingers whose boner started with the election of Trump, and whose boner crosses the Atlantic Ocean, also mistakenly believe that expelling all migrants (by color, religion and other criteria) will solve all their personal problems, as well as the problems of their territory called "the state."
And everything, as always, comes down to the fact that the blame for all the troubles is - the monopoly and control of the state on a certain territory, on one of the most important things - self-defense and use of force. Hence all the inefficiency of everything around you.
The mathematical chance that exists at the time of writing this post that you will be stabbed in London, Berlin or Paris (if you go to the "wrong neighborhood") exists only because the state has a monopoly on your "protection" and use of force, and that the state has always been and will always be so inefficient that it would be easier to advise you not to go to those neighborhoods (or even cities), or even forbid you to go there, but would not solve the problem.
And all this (the current inefficient system) you support with your taxes = money = life energy (which no one will give you back).
I recommend to read "New Libertarian Manifesto" by Samuel Edward Konkin III to get started. You can download it for free (use VPN or Tor) from annas-archive(dot)org.

Because I had great expectations for Matrix protocol in 2016, I check Element (web version) ~1 time a month, and every time I'm convinced how shitty Matrix is to this day...
Just like that, I was thrown out of my account, no reason. And it took a long time to log back in.
If you want to text me - don't text me ever in Matrix. Text me in SimpleX.

Happy birthday, Monero! 11 years! 🎉🥳🎊
There is a lot to say here about how important this project is for personal freedom, etc.
Thank you, dear Contributor for your contribution to XMR.

The free market relationship of a tarantula and a frog.
No government;
No regulations;
No permits/licenses;
Each benefits from this cooperation separately, while at the same time benefiting both.

That's where your tax fiat go. So the government can go after you.
It's been a pleasure using your service.
And thank you especially for your political stance.

Pure agorism and 🖕🏻 to all regulators.
This is one of the most important projects from the Monero ecosystem -
How to buy XMR anonymously without KYC/AML?
1) Buy USDT for cash on the over-the-counter market
2) Use Retoswap to swap USDT ➔ XMR

RetoSwap — It doesn't get more private than that

That's really cool.
Waiting for it in Monero. :)

Yes, I am that person who is obsessed with quality clothing.
Feel free to reach out for advice on brands and how to buy clothes properly.
Maybe someday I'll start my own clothing brand... but then I'll have to deanonymize and show myself to the world.
I will sew and sell quality clothes for crypto. :) View quoted note →
Mass market clothing = crap.
"Luxury" brands = mass market clothing (just with premium price.
I wonder how many other people in the crypto/foss community think about clothing and its quality?
There are a lot of quality and very cool clothing manufacturers out there, buying which you are buying exactly *quality* and nothing more. Quality of materials + quality of work, nothing else.
But, it is many times harder to buy such clothes because you either have to buy online or travel very far..... sometimes even to a neighboring country (I'm talking about Europe now)

I've been told that activity in Nostr has really dropped after the hype. That's why I came here :).
I used Fediverse (Mastodon) for a couple years (Fosstodon.org instance), but when the war in Ukraine started, I wrote 1 post about Zelenskyy, that he's a fucking dictator.
But it turns out that the admins (leftists from USA) didn't like it and my account was immediately deleted.
I was too lazy to start my own instance and decided to leave distributed/foss social networks for some time.
Let's see how my Nostr journey ends :).
#fosstodon #fediverse #fedi #mastodon
Which Nostr client for Android and Web do you use, and why?
Today I tried 4 times to pay for ice cream using a phenomenal crutch called Lightning Network.
And I always got the error you see in the screenshot.
Even though the merchant was using Wallet of Satoshi (essentially an Excel version of Bitcoin), that is, even with this level of centralization it was not possible to take advantage of this wonderful technology.
Explained to him that with Monero he would have no problems with on-chain payment, that the fees on the network are $0.02 dollars + privacy by default.
He said he would create an XMR wallet.

😅

The people I used to follow. just disappeared. Is this some kind of super cool Nostr feature, or just a bug?
