Given the treatment of XMR by the Bisq community throughout its existence, it would be odd to expect a different outcome than Bisq forking, improving it and that liquidity would flow towards Haveno / RetoSwap.com. View quoted note →

Remember not to swap XMR to something, using centralized swappers/exchanges, which will send their databases to Chainalysis. Buy something directly: * monerica.com * xmrbazaar.com * moneromarket.io #monero #xmr

I'm starting to like the Lightning Network! I mean, you can't just send a transaction, you have to do some more tambourine dancing. Arch Linux is too stable. I have a new hobby - Lightning Network! Will put a ⚡- so maybe the next time I have more luck! #Lightning #LightningNetwork View quoted note →

Please explain to me how it is that: I can't zap (send) 1000 sats to stacker.news using Lightning Network. Zeus wallet + opened a channel with Zeus node which has 68 active channels. Tell me, dear Bitcoin enthusiasts, what am I doing wrong? image

I hate Matrix and especially their "Element", which is full of shitty web technologies. "Schildi" is the same shit, which is also full of shitty web technologies. At last mentally healthy people have made at least 2 clients for Matrix that are OK, and both are made on C/C++. I prefer NeoChat. I use KDE Plasma and of course NeoChat is perfectly integrated into desktop environment. They're not perfect. There is still work to be done, but at least you can use it, unlike clients full JavaScript shit. #matrix

Recently in the Russian-speaking Monero community we raised money to help one of our community members fight cancer. Today I was informed that he failed to beat cancer after all... His name was Oleksiy (in Ukrainian) / Alexei (in Russian). He was 27 years old, city of Pridneprovsk, Ukraine.

Actually, this thread on the Zcash forum is interesting. Some users are blaming the corporate component of the Zcash project, and that their companies and foundations around the project misallocated money, gave grants to the wrong teams/people and they left without completing the work, etc. Does this remind you of anything? To me yes - a typical corporate "IT project", with typical corporate problems, where there is a lot of money and where its management does not need to be efficient. Why? Zcash clearly has more money than Monero = investors + dev tax. But, if you have so much "free" money, why be efficient in managing it? It seems to me rather even on a semi-subconscious level + I also don't rule out bad management + corruption of those who had access to distributing the money. There has always been and will always be a **huge** difference between Zcash and Monero developers/contributors. And it's *not* about money. Every job should be paid. But still, developers and contributors come to the Monero community primarily because they want to make XMR better (for themselves?), not because Monero is giving away money. Monero CCS is an easier to manage/report model than anything fancy and corporate. In my memory there has only been 1 big Monero CCS failure from someone who tells a lot of tales, namely the dude /u/Anonimal and his "project" - Kovri. But from what I imagine, and a couple of posts I read on the Zcash forum, the money that went up in the air funding Kovri is just a drop in the ocean compared to the amount of money that was allocated for grants for ZEC. ---- Next, the screenshot from the same forum thread. 1) There seems to be a lot of people in the Zcash community who don't know about FCMP++ integration in Monero. Why did I say “a lot”? Because no one in this thread has even mentioned it. 2) There is no point. #Monero #XMR #Zcash #ZEC image

The much simpler answer here is - convenience. As soon as a user of any other coin starts using Monero, there is elation, surprise, cognitive dissonance. Why? Because Monero simply works, and does not require the user to dance with tambourine to... work. You don't have to watch the mempool to "send the transaction correctly" (as you do with Bitcoin). Also, you don't need to use centralized CoinJoins, or the CoinJoins who worked with Chainalysis before... You don't need to play with "shielding" / mixing or any other secret tambourine dances of the "we-have-better-tech" tribe. Monero wallet fees are "Automatic", and you usually pay 0.015 USD ~ 0.04 USD fees per on-chain transaction, and you get: privacy by default = convenience. There is a great service - @btcmap. If you are in a city where BTC is accepted, check if they will accept XMR from you? It may be that you will be refused, sometimes even aggressively (yes, there are inadequate merchants who accept Bitcoin). But there is also a chance (and it is big) that they will accept XMR as an exception. Also, you can always offer your help to the merchant to set up a Monero wallet. So, the person who wonders why Zcash is not used as a payment method - he doesn't realize that ZEC is no different from other "ordinary" coins. And the "shielding" feature... well, look at the number of shielded transactions and you will understand everything. No hate towards Zcash. I just don't use it. #Monero #XMR #Zcash #ZEC image

A post about how much I like "Feather Wallet", which is without shitty web technologies like JavaScript, TypeScript and other shit you don't need for a desktop application, especially for Linux. I'm pleasantly surprised with "Feather Wallet" for Monero. It feels professional and thoughtful for Linux users. I use it as an .AppImage, and when I opened the wallet I saw that there is an update. I thought that when I click on "get update" it would just open my browser and Github to manually download the new .AppImage. But no! The wallet downloaded the latest update, in the same directory where the previous version was located. And all I did was replace the path in "KDE Menu Editor" with the new .AppImage version. Yes, I still went to Github to check the GPG signature and the hashsum I needed 😅. Please, support the development of this wallet by sending XMR! Open Feather -> Help -> Donate to Feather image

The video shows a Ukrainian patriot voluntarily and democratically rushing to war to protect the interests of Ukrainian/European/American oligarchs. When people say we need to "optimize the government", you can send them this video. Zelenskyy is a dictator.

I'm rewatching old records of "Hacker Congress Paralelni Polis" (a.k.a. HCPP) Some very interesting people seem to have evaporated from the public/semi-public space, as if very deeply disappointed in this world.

I love the app! Especially when I'm visiting a new city, and when I want to eat outdoors, away from the crowds. You can look for, uh... benches! Just type in the word "bench" and you'll see benches around town! It's no joke one of the most common things I look for in this app. Please consider to donate to this wonderful app: View quoted note →

I've been Linux-only for over 10 years. Arch Linux + KDE Plasma = this is what I advise everyone to try at least 1-3 months in their life. I've tried ~50 distros, with almost all Desktop Environments, and I'm happy with Arch + Plasma. Heard good things about CachyOS (which is Arch-based). You can try it, there GUI installation in 3 clicks. KDE Connect (on GrapheneOS) + KDE Plasma on a laptop is something I can't imagine my comfort level without. I'm also a big fan of Syncthing. Also, my online life wouldn't be so convenient and secure without KeePassXC. Some FOSS is truly amazing.
