Howdy Nostr,
TL:DR: Link to tool to port your facebook (JSON-)export to Nostr below.
As the Web of Trust Foundation, we are in talks with an organization called SETUP, that are currently running a "Facebook Museum" (
). The notion of a facebook museum is tongue and cheek on the one hand declaring facebook to be 'history', but also open up a dialogue on the question what we are going to do with all that data that is inside facebook currently; all those documented personal lives, communities etc.
Their intent with the museum is to focus on the emotional side of things, and the process of mourning that comes along with saying goodbye to such a platform. A while back, @Sebastix and I went to the opening of the museum, and we introduced them to the idea of being able to continue your digital life outside of facebook.
Recently we had a talk with them, and introduced them to Nostr. They never heard of it before, and it was somewhat of a curve ball for them. Whether or not the idea of porting over a facebook account to Nostr, similar to what Sebas is doing with the Nyves project (
, Hyves was a very popular Dutch social media platform that eventually lost to facebook and went away) is a fit for what they are going for in the context of their museum remains to be seen. It summer, so that conversation will continue after the vacation period.
In the meantime, i went ahead and build a demo for them to illustrate what is possible. And since it it works (atleast, i think it does), might as well throw it out there for those interested.
It is purposely....how would you call it...poetic. Its all set within the context of a vigil. The export is the diseased; the stuff you archive are the heirlooms; you can donate content to the museum; you can leave your condolences; and you can continue in the afterlife!
If you are going to try it, i would advice to make a JSON-export inside facebook, instead of the HTML one. At the end of the process you can log-in with your existing Nostr profile and transfer your selection of facebook data towards Nostr.
try it here:

PS: as far as i can tell everything works fine, but it was build as a demo for illustration purposes I would suggest using the default random generated keypair first, see if everything is ok, before using it on your own keypair.

Facebook Museum
We openen het allereerste Facebook Museum ter wereld om dit platform te herdenken en waardig afscheid te nemen.
