Tell me why my idea sucks so we can make it better: Fedimint Ded Drp - Allow a user to send ecash to npub 1. Encrypt using nostimint’s npub and send to nostimint a. npub of recipient b. ecash is encrypted with npub of recipient 2. deddrp creates contract (similar to LN gateway) 3. Recipient queries for any outstanding contracts for their npub 4. Receives encrypted ecash after “unlocking” contract 5. decrypt, then use ecash as normal Was thinking about nostr and fedimint and thought that a whitelist of npubs just creates an account model that is no bueno for privacy. The cryptographic primitives don't have to be nostr either, you could encrypt Step 1.b with any sort of key material. (I think)

Good morning. Fedimint mining pools are going to be a game changer.

In a Fedimint, at least 2/3 of the guardians need to be online or non-malicious for consensus to keep functioning. There no differentiating between offline and actively malicious. Below that threshold, funds are still safe but new transactions cannot occur and things stop working.

Ecash will happen because the world still needs offline capable money.

When email providers find out that AI are spamming the ever living shit out of things, they'll need to have a way to filter stuff. So maybe they run a fedimint or cashu mint and require a little ecash on every email to get through the filter. Same thing with ads, you want to serve me an add, attach some ecash sats and then I'll look at you're beautifully crafted 15 second video telling how great your cat backpack is.

Is there an upper limit to the number of Guardians? Since every guardian (aka server aka node) in a fedimint needs to communicate and come to consensus over the network, you largely run into a latency constraint around consensus. Especially if the network latency of those machines amongst each other is variable or high. Eric Sirion (fedimint creator), supposedly did some upper limit testing and found that consensus starts to get unreliable/weird/etc around ~15 guardians, so I'd estimate ~4-10 being a sweet spot for number of guardians. This works well with the intended scope of fedimints - small, "local", focused, second-party custody. Since each guardian might be running different hardware/operating system/etc. giving explicit upper limits can be tricky, especially given the relatively small sampling set of people running fedimints in the real world.

If you have low priority, high time effort coding tasks, consider Replit bounties. Magical.
