Listened to some 80's music, it seems that some of the songs popularity hinged on a minimally catchy hook combined with a novel, innovative, experimental electronic sound. Now, though, the robot samples aren't novel anymore, so the songs aren't as interesting as they once were. We're seeing the same phenomena with slop. My point being, technology doesn't 'take over' without serving human need unambiguously. People don't change that fast.
