*even if [tax] revenues do grow, what assurance is there that the political system will not respond by just ramping up spending and deficits even more? After all, the advanced economies are already very rich. In principle, they could have easily managed their finances better if their leaders had found it politically expedient to do so. But being rich has never been an obstacle to going bankrupt. Voters have hardly begun to adjust to the realities of a higher interest rate world, where demographic decline and vastly increased needs for defense spending have introduced major new costs. As the median voter grows older, systems already biased against young people will only become more so.*

*the technology oligarch who proposes UHI is not a philanthropist. He is the architect of a closed loop, his machines displace your labour, his lobbying and a portion of the company’s revenues secure your government cheque, your government cheque makes you politically docile, your political docility secures the regulatory environment his machines require. He has privatized the gains and socialized the dependency.* View quoted note →

*Governments and central banks are, in a deep sense, inflation merchants. They must sell the currency to fund the state, and the currency is only worth holding if it depreciates slowly enough to retain confidence, yet fast enough to service the debt loads states have accumulated across decades of deficit spending. The bigger threat is to the solvency of the fiat system itself.* View quoted note →

*The argument isn’t against the use of AI per se but with a failure to closely examine actions and their consequences in an economy. The biggest threat to the abundance narrative will be the fiat system and the fact that it’s inflationary by design.* View quoted note →

“He’s basically the first Hungarian prime minister who has a perfect understanding of how the Brussels and EU machine work[s],” said Stefano Bottoni, a professor focused on Eastern Europe at the University of Florence. “And if you want to count more in Brussels, if you want to be a counterweight to the big [countries] — France, Germany — then you have to join forces.” View quoted note →
