Alejandro was kind enough to send a copy of his zine, 'Lessons in Solitude', to us so we made a flip-through video of it. Beautiful work! #noicemag #photography

Submission by Katerina Kouzmitcheva. Q: What makes a good photograph? A: A good photograph captures more than just an image—it distills emotion, tension, or meaning into a single frame. Light and composition become essential tools, shaping the mood and guiding the viewer's eye, while the photograph resonates with the beauty, or complexity of life, offering a lens through which to see the world differently, however fleetingly. --- NOICE Visual Expression Awards Deadline: March 31, 2025 Current Prize: 115,648 sats www.noicemagazine.com/submissions #noicemag #photography

Photography submission by Chiara Zonca Series: Magma This series was shot in Lanzarote, Spain and traces the passage of a destructive force; the sinister, dangerous and impossibly striking aftermath of an eruption after the dust has settled and fire has turned into stone. The eruptions started on the island in 1730 and lasted six years. During that time, flaming lava rushed from the depths of the earth, turning villages into ashes and destroying the farmers’ fertile land. The eruptions created over one hundred volcanoes around the island including the area known as Timanfaya National Park, one of the youngest landscapes on earth. I was intrigued by this natural phenomenon that appears to be frozen in time and yet ever-evolving. With these images, I emphasize both the scale of this catastrophe and the delicate regrowth that ensued. A subtle balance between the landscape’s innate calm and my tumultuous mind. -- #noicemag #photography NOICE VISUAL EXPRESSION AWARDS CURRENT CASH PRIZE: 1106,173 sats

Light in photography is everything. If you set aside the subject matter for a moment, it becomes clear that without light, there is nothing. I highly recommend watching the incredible documentary by John Ott that explores his work with light. It’s a fascinating insight into the importance of light in our lives. If you have the time, it’s also worth reading about his findings: https://www.ratical.org/ratville/AoS/HealthAndLight.pdf

Submission by Soohyun Jeong "I am Soohyun Jeong, an emerging photographer based in South Korea. I have worked as a contemporary jewelry designer and recently expanded my creative practice into photography. The series I submitted consists of Wonder in Wonder: Jeju and Nocturnal Visit: Jeju, capturing the two contrasting faces of Jeju Island, day and night. Jeju, nestled at the southernmost tip of South Korea, is a land deeply ingrained in the hearts of Koreans, celebrated for its breathtaking nature and unique heritage preserved through generations. As an outsider traveling to and from this island in 2024, I found myself yearning to uncover the hidden secrets of a place so familiar yet so enigmatic. Wandering through its every corner on foot, I became entranced by the island's whimsical and almost otherworldly charm. By day, Jeju radiates a warm serenity under the embrace of natural light, but when night falls, its allure transforms. Beneath the artificial glow, the island takes on an ethereal and uncanny beauty, bathed in hues that seem to hum with an inexplicable power. There’s a magnetic mystery to Jeju, an irresistible force that keeps calling me back to uncover more of its untold wonders." Submission by Michael Prais. "Deterioration and Loss" I have always been interested in how unwitting visual arrangements create structure (composition) and how they affect me. I am curious about traditional, domestic still lives. I am drawn to capture images of arrangements of abandon and deteriorating equipment and buildings and think of these as exterior still lives that signal my concerns of deterioration and loss. https://michaelprais.me/photgraphy NOICE Visual Expression Awards Deadline: March 31, 2025 Current Prize: ($101 / 104,923sats)
